The idea of Building Learning Power – Prof. Guy Claxton
Professional reading about how to develop a growth mindset within classroom practice. We have the signs on the wall and discuss it, however I’m wondering how effective we are in incorporating this into all our teaching. Guy Claxton gives hints on how to modify lessons, instead of using the words “work”, talk about learning, get on with your learning, what’s difficult about that? how are you getting on with your learning? A good reminder to put drafts on the walls. It’s not about task completion but building learning fitness. (I like this) It builds resilience as well.
Ali I like your post and agree that as teachers we should talk less about the end product but about how we go about it. Children need to use their resilience to continually adapt/improve their learning to make it better. Developing these skills is so important for all students/teachers.
